The Jetta is already a good-looking car. With a tint and some nice new wheels, it would look great.

Jetta aside, those wheels are... a lot. Very floral.  Kinda remind me of these

Indeed! Not my fave style of wheel, but I think it works decently on here.

Ah yes but you see a new set of wheels and a ti nt will cost me a few hundred dollars, where as those upgrades are $5000 and $10,000 respectively

Yeah  they are probably my least favorite aspect of the looks of this car.

Because they’re ultimately more expensive, particularly on a lease.

Definitely on the wheels. Then you can keep the steelies/caps in perfect condition to save on back-end fees when you turn it in.

Tint’s kind of overrated outside of the Sun Belt, IMO. Good for privacy, but I wouldn’t trade the visibility. OTOH, come down here and watch your headliner and door trim fall after a few years when the interior hits 150 degrees :D

Aren’t you leas ing? Is it really worth it to buy wheels for a car you don't own? I don't know that I'd bother. I think it looks pretty good.

I like it for the look, the privacy, and for the few months in the summer where the temps can hold between 80-100 degrees.

If I do, it’d be because a) I want to use the factory wheels for snow tires, and b) because there’s an excellent chance we’ll buy it at the end of the lease for my brother or stepsister.

Both of those seem like pretty valid reasons. That certainly changes the mindset if you don't intend to return it.

Still flexing that parallel park job, huh?

I’d support those mods, especially new wheels.
